1st SIMA African Summit 2017
“Agricultural mechanisation in Africa: what strategy for progress?”
Tuesday 28 February - from 10:30am to 12:30pm, Mezzanine Hall 5A
Mechanisation is considered today a key element for development in Africa, as stated in the agreement signed between the European Agricultural Machinery Association (CEMA) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in 2015. Recent studies and different initiatives show that promoting a wider use of sustainable agricultural mechanisation tools in developing countries can make a real difference in increasing the welfare of farm households and create opportunities for economic growth in rural areas.
For the first time and on the occasion of SIMA, the SIMA African Summit 2017 will feature two major events on this topic:
- Sunday 26 February 2017, the opening day, which will bring together African ministers and African institutional partners, who will present their agricultural development strategy.
- Tuesday 28 February 2017, the 1st SIMA African Summit will be held “Agricultural mechanisation in Africa: what strategy for progress?”.
This unique event is organized by AXEMA and SIMA, with the participation of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the European Agricultural Machinery Association (CEMA), Bpifrance Export, FNCUMA, and the Pan African Farmers Organizations (PAFO).
Representatives from entities operating in Africa will also contribute to this event aimed at African professionals (farmers, breeders) and exhibitors.
SIMA is considered the reference trade-show for African institutions and private operators. In the past SIMA 2015's edition the fair hosted delegates coming from more than 37 African countries.
Timing & Location: Tuesday 28 February - from 10:30am to 12:30pm, Mezzanine Hall 5A
