EurAgEng, the EURopean society of  AGricultural ENGineers, appointed Dr. Ivo Hostens as its new Secretary General.

Dr. Hostens, Technical Director of CEMA, will add a new challenge to his roster.

The EurAgEng society operates for the promotion of the role of the agricultural and biosystem engineer, acting as the umbrella organisation for 23 national members.

EurAgEng successfully organises yearly conferences for its members, and former Secretary General David Tinker achieved to improve this with the link to the VDI organised Land.Technick AgEng conference.

A stronger link with Brussels, where research calls are decided and research money distributed, is seen as a strong added value, and it has led to the appointment as new Secretary General of an experienced figure in the field such as that of Dr. Hostens.

Dr. Hostens will focus his efforts around the place of bio- or agricultural- engineers, the education curicula of engineers working in agricultural and the research itself, as elements to be explored. It should result  in a strategy to make the agricultural research actors, their work and their needs better known. Dr. Hostens' appointment will also create the unique opportunity to further strengthen the link with the agricultural machinery industry.
