As expected, the European Commission released its Brexit guidance to stakeholders on impact on type-approval of certain vehicles and engines, whereby businesses are reminded of the legal repercussions which need to be considered when the United Kingdom ceases to be a member of the EU.

The document CLICK HERE specifically analyses the legal consequences of the United Kingdom's withdrawal on the type-approval of:

•          agricultural and forestry vehicles

•          2- or 3-wheeled vehicles and quadricycles

•          non-road mobile machinery

CEMA’s position was provided to the Commission in preparation for the notice released, and our advocacy will continue accordingly. As a reminder, separate notices already provide more information on legal consequences of UK's withdrawal on the type approval of motor vehicles and their trailers; systems, components and separate technical units intended for motor vehicles, see doc here, as well as on industrial products in general (RoHS, Weee, machinery, radio equipment, pressure equipment, tyres, environment noise…) doc here. The British government is also engaged in consulting stakeholders and preparing guidance / legislation for future EU27 products market access into the UK post Brexit.
