On 13 of April, CEMA will join a high-level conference on the EU action "Smart Villages" taking place in Bled (Slovenia) hosted by Franc Bogovic MEP. The main objective of the Smart Villages action is identifiying and encouraging those initiatives that can revitalise rural areas through digital and social innovation with the support of the European Commission (DG Agri, DG Regio, DG Move).

This event will count on the presence of European Commissioners Violeta Bulc (Transport & Mobility), Phil Hogan (Agriculture & Rural Development), Mariya Gabriel (Digital Agenda), Slovenian Prime Ministry Miro Cerar and MEP Tibor Szanyi (S&D) as well as other relevant stakeholders.

On this occasion, Gilles Dryancour, Chairman of CEMA's Public Policy Group, will share the industry views on a panel discussion addressing the topic of: 'Future of CAP and smart farming' together with representatives from public and private agricultural organisations.

Looking ahead, the Smart Villages action will explore how rural services – such as health, social services, education, energy, transport, retail – can be improved and made more sustainable through the deployment of digital tools and through community-led actions and projects.
