CEMA welcomes the joint efforts to support digital agriculture in Europe

The Declaration of Cooperation ‘A smart and sustainable digital future for European agriculture and rural areas’ presented by the European Commission last April gets now 25 signatories out of the 28 Members States, Bulgaria being the latest in joining.

Once again, this shows there is a firm commitment from national governments to give a boost digitising the whole agri-food sector  in Europe.

The Declaration calls on Member States to reinforce their cooperation on the following points:

  • strengthen support for research in areas such as smart farming and food traceability,
  • establish a Europe-wide innovation infrastructure for a smart European agri-food sector and
  • create a European dataspace for smart agri-food applications.
