FAIRshare

Farm Advisory digital Innovation tools Realised and Shared

Start date: 1 November 2018

End date: 31 October 2023

In a nutshell:

Electronic data generation, analytics and communication technologies potentially enable more accurate, faster and better decision-making on farms, with huge potential to improve agricultural sustainability. With a major focus on digitization by EU and national/regional policy-makers to ensure that digital innovation in agriculture keeps pace with other sectors and the benefits of digitization are available to the wider farming community, FAIRshare, an European Union’s Horizon 2020 project, will engage, enable and empower the independent farm advisor community, through sharing of tools, expertise, and motivations. The project is coordinated by TEAGASC - Agriculture and food development authority (Ireland), with an international and representative consortium of 21 partners and the overall budget of € 6 998 652,50.

The project intends to:

  • Gather an evidence base of the digital tools and services used internationally, leveraging the social networks of partner institutions that span EU and non-EU countries;
  • Generate and resource a participatory ‘living laboratory’, empowering advisor peers from across the EU to interact with the online inventory and, in a series of workshops, to exchange, co-adapt, co-design and apply digital tools.

CEMA’s role:

CEMA is mostly involved in the Dissemination and Communication activities and will:

  • Support the WP leader in the communications activities;
  • Participate in events and meetings;
  • Contribute to the dissemination of the project;
  • And ensure a direct link with existing relevant international initiatives in the field of digital advisory tools and services.

CEMA leads the policy recommendation production, that will be drafted together by a multi-actor group of partners (CEMA, COPA, EUFRAS, etc.), in the last six months of the project. These recommendations will include the project’s achievements and findings leading to relevant policy guidelines for consideration at the EU and country level so as to better enable and empower advisors and farmers in the digital age.

Additionally, CEMA contributes in the preparation of methodology and standard on how to perform the systematic review of digital tools currently available to advisory services that will feed the future FAIRshare platform, as well as in the identification and screening of digital solutions for advisory services that are already on the market.
