Considering the excellent response from its community through the Open Calls, and recognizing the need to provide greater access to finance for robotic initiatives, the Pan European agROBOfood network, coordinated by Wageningen University & Research and partnered by CEMA is organizing a “Pitch Your Robot” event where it has aligned over 30 robotic agri-food solutions, tested in a relevant environment and ready for a next step.

This matchmaking event will connect various initiatives both with public and private investors. Start(scale)-ups and SMEs already developing a robotic solution will have the opportunity to “Pitch their robot” and acquire funding to continue their work, in this two-day online event that will take place on 10th and 11th February 2021

2021 agROBOfood Pitch your robot

Why invest in agri-food robotics:

  • Rural societies in Asia, Europe, Australia and America are aging and the availability of (seasonal) workforce is declining, while the challenge to feed urban societies is increasing. Robotic solutions could be the answer both for undertaking part of the labour and bringing the younger, tech savvy community back and feeding the cities.
  • In comparison to other agri-technological domains, robotics provides clearer business cases that can save direct labour costs or sustainable value and are not depended on climate and value chain agreements.
  • Robots are automated sensing data machines that enable a more sustainable way of production, more convenient for the farmer, without extra effort. Robots are transparent systems, where full tracking and tracing is registered. In addition, robots can be used for a large variety of crop types.
  • Robots can reduce worker costs, soil compaction, chemicals (pesticides), nutrients, water and fertilizer, energy consumption and administration. Robots can work day and night, 24/7. Robots work more precisely.
  • Agri-food is driven towards a fresher and resilient way of consumption, with a rise of (soft) fruits and, vegetables, organic, personalized and nutritious in custom made small packages. Application od robotic solutions is the most sustainable way to provide this demand.

The event presents agri-food robotic pitches that:

  • Are above TRL6 (robots are tested in a relevant environment) and developed a business plan;
  • Before the event Investors will receive access to a catalogue with all the one-pagers and a link to the full Pitch Deck of every “Pitcher”;
  • Investors need to register via https://agrobofood.eu/pitch-your-robot/. After registration you will receive an Investors manual with information about the event and guidelines to participate (for you already enclosed in this email);
  • The events also allows to team up between public and private investment funds;
  • The event is limited to selected “Pitchers” and “Investors”.

Investors accepted are: Public funds, NGOs, Incubators and accelerator programs, Business Angels / Informal investors, Business Angels societies, Venture Capitalists, and Cooperative Venture Capital.

Use this opportunity to create new partnerships and/or provide valuable feedback to the Pitchers. Registration deadline for investors extended by 10 February 2021. More information can be found at https://agrobofood.eu/pitch-your-robot/
