In May, the industry’s business mood has reached its highest values since 2012.
Although the divergence between future expectations and current business evaluation persists, the order intake strongly suggests growth is picking up.
With a production period of 2.7 months on average, the volume of orders of the total industry is again at the same high level as during the last boom phase in 2012/2013.
Accordingly, in May, 57% of the surveyed companies’ representatives expected a turnover increase for the next six months.
Meanwhile, the upward trend reflects improved business situations in Poland and Italy, but also in France. Nonetheless, still, 30% of French manufacturers see themselves in an unfavorable condition.
Probably due to slightly worse weather conditions in the north of Spain, growth perspectives for the Spanish market are a bit less enthusiastic (especially among companies located in the country), while in the CIS region an extremely dynamic market development seems to continue.
