The latest report by AGRIEVOLUTION, the Global Alliance for Agricultural Equipment Manufacturing Associations, shows that there was a permanent downward trend for tractor sales in 2014 with an estimated global production of 2.1 million tractors.
However, demand varies significantly across regions:
- China and India maintain their leading position as the biggest markets in terms of volume, as c. 50% of the units sold worldwide were registered there (mainly low horsepower tractors).
- In the EU, demand showed a decline of 8%. According to preliminary calculations, the turnover value was of EUR 8.2 billion which would correspond to 20-25% of the global industry turnover with tractors.
- In the US, the tractor market has slowed down compared to the very high levels recorded in the previous years, and in Canada the situation remains flat.
- In Brazil, the market in 2014 came back to the levels of 2010-2012 with around 55,000 units.
- In Japan, after the last spring season, tractor sales went down very sharply with -15% as result for the calendar year 2014.
