March 10 and 11, 2015, the symposium "Efficiency of Mobile Machines and their Applications – A Contribution to reduction of GHG" will take place at the Technische Universität Braunschweig. The symposium will point out the role of the agricultural and construction machinery in context of the EU climate targets, which measures will contribute to a reduction of greenhouse gases and how this may be evidenced.

In 2013 a first symposium focused on the efficiency topic with a national perspective of agricultural machinery. The upcoming international symposium in 2015 will also address the issues of construction machinery and in general of mobile machines. The topics of presentations and discussions will cover energy efficiency, CO2 emissions and regulation measures for emission reduction. Invited are the experts of these industry sectors, in particular politic representatives and those of regulation defining institutions and stakeholders in this topic.

Notable speakers from the relevant sectors will talk about expected global developments, the “Carbon Footprint” of mobile machines and about smart ways forward. Based on the 4 pillar strategy, which the manufacturer and their European associations CECE and CEMA have defined, expected innovations and future potentials will be shown. All these aspects shall be considered in a voluntary commitment for CO2 reduction of machines and their applications. How such a voluntary commitment of the agricultural and construction machinery industry can look like will be an important topic of the symposium.

Organizers of the symposium are the Institute of Mobile Machines and Commercial Vehicles, Director Prof. Dr. Ludger Frerichs, and ITS Niedersachsen.
