The European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS), the think tank and research centre of the European Parliament, has issued a study on Artificial intelligence in the agri-food sector: Applications, risks and impacts. Starting from the increased interest in AI applications in the agri-food sector, the study looks into sensing and data collection in different agri-food sectors, and describes how the data can lead to better management and better decision making in crop and animal production.

CEMA contributed to the study, particularly on chapter 7: “AI and the agricultural machinery industry: collecting data and decision deployment”. CEMA’s input was provided by Technical Director Ivo Hostens and by the CEMA Artificial Intelligence ad hoc group Chairwoman Francesca Hennig-Possenti.

The study is available on the EPRS website at https://www.europarl.europa.eu/thinktank/en/document/EPRS_STU(2023)734711.
